Therefore, you won't need to download anything more for installation other than the original installation file.Ģ: Lumen may be installed on a PC in the field when there is no internet connectivity.ģ: The offline installer may be advantageous if your internet connection is sluggish since installation is quicker.Ĥ: The installation of Lumen may be stopped and started whenever you choose. There isn't a different installer for Mac OS you may use the same installer for both online and offline installation.ġ: The standalone installation of Lumen is the offline installer. About 1/2 down, if you have already tried downloading silverlight, it should say apple store and identified developers. The technician told me to go to systems preferences and hit the general tab. In other words, you may finish the installation without having an online connection.Ģ: There is a separate offline installation on the Lumen download page for Windows if you use Windows. I just had the new operating system installed and was unable to install silverlight. and I don't have to deal with Microsoft telling me stuff like where I can and can't place my taskbar and what kind of widgets I can have (with most being ads lol).1: When an online connection is accessible, an application like Lumen may be downloaded to your computer and installed when an internet connection is no longer available, thanks to an offline installation. I can have my cool transparency compositing effects back (even more in fact), AND a ui that is wayyyy more consistent with dark mode working almost everywhere. Once I switched to Linux I quickly realized KDE plasma is the solution to almost all of my problems here. I also absolutely hate that Microsoft ditched the beautiful aero theme in vista/7 for a boring, flat, corporate look that felt like a regression in every way and continued to neuter themeing more and more with each version of windows after 7 so it was harder and harder to get a ui like that back. granted, win11 has actually improved this a fair bit it's still far from perfect. the fact that the control panel and the settings still both need to exist (and have for the past 10+ years!) is ridiculous and a wonderful example of how much of a mess the ui is. dark mode is awful due to this and a lot of third party apps not respecting it. it's about 40% win10/11 acrylic/mica/whateverthefucktheyrecallingit uwp apps, 10% windows 8 metro design, and 50% win7 and previous design (with some apps virtually unchanged since fucking win9x). One of my biggest complaints with modern windows is that the ui is hot garbage. There are quite a few reasons but one of the biggest for me (and this is one I don't see talked about as much as I figured it would be) is the customization and UI.
